The definitive landmark of Islamabad and a must see for every tourist. It is also a wonder of modern architecture, so you will not find historical significance here. It is a bit too rigid and sterile for me, hardly a deeply spiritual place.

Iconic Landmark of Islamabad and Pakistan that is also a marvel of modern architecture as the building showcases a blend of modern art and nomadic culture of Arab. Although this is a Muslim prayer area, yet it is frequented by people of all walks of life and religions. This is the most visited tourist spot in Islamabad and access is free. Parking is normally free until there is a new contractor to charge for it. There are two main entrances, the central one is located at the eastern end of the mosque, while the other one is from behind the main building on the western end. You have to take off your shoes to enter and You can deposit your shoes at the main entrance and pay RS. 20 per pair for safe keeping, otherwise you can carry them around with you. The main prayer hall is the key attraction however you can only enter it during the collective prayer times that take place 5 times during a day. The vast courtyard of the mosque is created by marble and walking on it is usually dependent on the climate outside. A lot of crowds are always present around this area, however cleanliness is not fully maintained around the parking area. A visit has to be part of your visit to Islamabad.

Beautiful mosque. Foreigners can also go in during prayer time, which is an interesting sight to see. Only downside is you can’t bring bags inside, but there is also nowhere to store the bags, so if you’re a solo traveller it might be tricky.

This monument not only possesses a great religious aspect but also a masterpiece of architecture. I visited in September 2024 with my kids and had a wonderful experience. The mosque has a big capacity to hold "Namazis". I had the opportunity to meet a few foreigners as well. A must-visit place if you visit Islamabad.

“Capture the serene and spiritual atmosphere of Iftar at Faisal Masjid on March 22. Show worshippers gathered in unity, the golden hues of sunset reflecting off the grand white marble, and the moment of breaking the fast with dates and water. Highlight the essence of Ramadan—peace, devotion, and community—in a cinematic and visually captivating way.”

Very nice and open. Unfortunately only opens during Salah times for a very short period. Bathrooms and wudu areas are completely filthy. The outside floor is very dusty and they ask you to take your shoes off. So my feet get all dusty.
